Freshman year grounded us in landscape architecture. Through intensive studio courses during both fall and spring semesters, my cohort was challenged to push ourselves beyond the skills we came in with. This challenging process exposed us to the basic elements of landscape and the components of architectural drawing.
FA22 Project 2: The Forest Transect
The Forest Transect introduced us to section drawings and their purpose. Using a site at the Slim Jim Woods in Cornell University’s Arboretum, we analyzed a section of land to understand changes in topography, vegetation, and site context.

FA22 Project 3: The Edge
The Edge was our final project during our first semester. We were challenged to combine all of our newfound knowledge with materiality, vegetation, and architectural drawing to analyze and create a design proposal to revitalize Thompson Park in Fall Creek Village, Ithaca, NY. My focus for this project was on planting design and vegetation analysis (as are most of my projects.).

At the end of my freshman year, I had a call with Raymond Jungles, my idol landscape architect. The call in my mind was an opportunity to ask Raymond questions about the field and what I can do going forward. Little did I know that he was about to offer me an internship for the summer and give me an experience I will truly never forget. The amount of knowledge I gained in this internship is impossible to encapsulate in just a few words, so here is just some of what I was able to do during my time there!

Planting Design
My Lifeline
Plants are my everything. They are what draws me to design and fuels my creativity. This section includes my many planting compositions including photos of installations, sketches, renderings, etc. Every installation was installed by myself and my father! Lots of blood, sweat and tears, but it all pays off when you get to watch them all grow thick and lush.
